Medical Technologist as it is called here in the Philippines, is also called Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) in Canada. An MLT in Canada can live and work virtually anywhere in Canada.
There is a need for MLT in both big cities and small communities in Canada. Most of the jobs available are in the hospitals, however, there are also available in private laboratories, community health clinics, public health facilities, university research labs, biotechnology companies, and specialty labs.
In order to able to practise as MLT in Canada, an overseas-trained Medical Technologists (Med Tech) needs to be Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). The CSMLS certification is accepted across Canada.
MLT is a regulated health profession in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. In these province you need a license to practise. British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and the territories are not regulated.
If you are a graduate of:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology
- Single or Married
- Not older than 35 years old
- With at least 4 years work experience as Med Tech
